Holistic massage involves manipulation of the body's soft tissues to relieve muscle tension, aches and pains, headaches, IBS and constipation and increases mobility.
Holistic massage is a natural way to encourage relaxation of the body and mind to give a general feeling of wellbeing.
Aromatherapy Massage
Aromatherapy is the use of plant essential oils for psychological and physical well-being. Essential oils are obtained from plants, flowers and resins. Aromatherapy massage uses essential oils, mixed with a carrier oil, such as sweet almond or grapeseed.
Aromatherapy
massage may benefit a variety of conditions including stress, insomnia,
depression, skin conditions, muscular aches, IBS, PMT, menopause, rheumatism
and sinus problems. It can stimulate appetite, memory, circulation and the
immune. An aromatherapy massage can be tailored to meet specific conditions, or
just for relaxation.
Before The Treatment
- Have a shower before massage
- Avoid heavy meals, to make you feel more relaxed and comfortable
- Avoid alcohol before the massage
The Treatment
Before
the treatment you will be asked to undress to your underwear and lie on
the treatment couch under a large towel. During the treatment the towel
will be moved to expose only those parts of the body to which the
treatment is being applied. Client modesty and warmth will be respected
at all times. I will use a carrier massage oil such as sweet almond oil
or grapeseed oil for the massage.
First Visit
On the first visit you will be asked to complete a confidential consultation card and will be asked a number of questions concerning general well-being, injuries and medical conditions that I should know about. This will allow me to determine if there are any contra-indications (physical conditions that would prohibit or limit a massage treatment). Massage should not be carried on anyone suffering from fever or infectious diseases. Certain conditions such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, epilepsy, undiagnosed pain, diabetes or trapped nerves will need to be checked with a doctor before a massage treatment can take place.
If you are taking any prescribed medication it is necessary to have permission from your Doctor before treatment can commence. The consultation will be used by me to decide which treatment will be most beneficial for you.
